Citi Global Markets Challenge

The Citi GMC requires teams to construct a long-short portfolio across equities, rates, commodities and FX to pitch to a panel of judges representing prospective investors. 2020 marked the fifth year of the challenge being held at UWA. For the second year in a row, a UWA team comprised of FAWA committee members competed in the global finals and edged out all other competitors from the ANZ region.

UBS Investment Banking Challenge

The UBS Investment Banking Challenge sees students pitch a real-life M&A transaction to a panel representing the Board of the respective company. The competition requires students to go beyond their studies and offers a great opportunity to implement the skills gained from the FAWA Modelling Workshop and UBS Campus Presentation. The winning team compete in the National Finals in Melbourne.

Cornell Real Estate Challenge

The Cornell Real Estate Challenge provides teams with a fictional real estate asset and asks them to pitch an acquisition strategy to a hypothetical investment committee. Requiring students to conduct their own market research and analysis, the event offers an opportunity for students to explore an industry not often taught at university, and gives the winning team within Australia the chance to compete in the international finals held annually in New York City.
