Competitions
FAWA facilitates a range of competitions in which students can apply their theoretical knowledge and gain first-hand experience working in the finance sector. In putting their skills to the test, participants have the opportunity to pitch their presentation to leading industry professionals, receive mentoring and win interviews for vacation work.
FAWA hosts the UWA heats of the annual UBS Challenge. The UBS Challenge offers an opportunity to test students' skills on a real-life transaction and gain hands-on experience of what it is like to work as an analyst at an investment bank.
The winning team from each participating campus will be invited to UBS offices to present to UBS bankers and are guaranteed interviews for their summer internship program. Generous cash prizes will also be awarded to the top three teams.
FAWA hosts the UWA heats of the annual FAWA, Citi and Unit Stock Pitch Challenge. The Stock Pitch Challenge offers an opportunity to test students' skills on pitching a stock and gain hands-on experience of what it is like to work as a sales and trading analyst at an investment bank.
The winning team from each participating campus will be invited to UNSW to present to a panel of industry professions including senior bankers at Citi. The top team nationally gets a one week paid internship with Citi's Markets & Securities Services Division plus for female national finalists a secured first round interview for Citi's Women in Banking Scholarship.
The Research Challenge is a Worldwide intercollegiate competition between teams of students which is organised through CFA member societies. Teams of 3-5 students will be asked to prepare and present sell-side equity research.
Students will need to complete a thorough analysis of a publicly-traded company, write a research report and present their information to a panel of judges. CFA Institute will provide mentoring by an industry professional to help students throughout the Challenge.
